This impressive and historic pin features the image of a curly headed young V.I. Lenin emblazoned in gold at the center of a blood-red five-pointed Soviet star. These pins were commonly seen throughout the USSR until the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991. They were worn by youngsters participating in the youth organization known as "Little Octobrists," for children between 7 and 9 years of age. The organization was a precursor group for the Young Pioneers (ages 10 to 14) and ultimately the Komsomol (ages 15 to 28). This pin measures approximately 1.2 in x 1.2 in (3 cm x 3 cm). The pin fastens in back with a typical Soviet-style safety closure.
