ProductDescription : This is a 55 lbs. bag of orange indicating silica gel. The silica gel desiccant is made of silicon dioxide and formed into hard beads 2-5 mm in diameter. The beads have a strong affinity for water and are commonly used for humidity control applications. Orange silica gel is impregnated with phenolphthalein, a color changing moisture indicator. When dry the beads have a yellow-orange tint. When saturated the beads become green. Orange silica gel is often used in place of blue silica gel, which contains cobalt chloride. Saturated beads can be regenerated in an oven on low heat until the original orange color returns. Typical applications: Compressed Air Dryers, Gas Processing, Humidity Control, Protection of Packaged Goods.
