During a 10th-century Arab raid on the Monastery, the sacristan Deacon Sabbas managed to hide the icon and the cross of St. Constantine in the well of the sanctuary, placing a lit candle in front of them, which were found intact after 70 years, with the candle still burning. It symbolizes resilience and divine protection. In memory of that miracle, a supplicatory canon to the All-holy Theotokos is chanted every Monday evening, and every Tuesday, the Divine Liturgy is celebrated in the main church.
