Highly detailed 1/700 scale assembly model kit of the USS Massachusetts (BB-59), a World War II era South Dakota-class (second) battleship of the United States Navy. Commissioned on 12 May 1942, the USS Massachusetts was one of two ships of the second South Dakota-class battleships, the other being her sister ship the USS Alabama (BB-60). Nicknamed the "Big Mamie" by her crew, the USS Massachusetts saw combat service in both the Atlantic and the Pacific during World War II. USS Massachusetts stands out because it is believed that she may have fired the US Navy's first and last 16 in shells in combat during World War II.
