Makunaimã: o mito através do tempo, a peça de teatro, traz as vozes indígenas pemon, taurepang, wapichana e macuxi, povos que são herdeiros legítimos de Makunaimã, a reclamar dentro da própria casa de Mário de Andrade o Macunaíma estereotipado, que mistura histórias e culturas indígenas diferentes para compreender a formação do povo brasileiro, a partir do nosso sagrado.

É no barulho da discussão sobre Macunaíma e Makunaimã que Mário de Andrade desperta do Além, caminha até a sua sala e surpreende a todos. “Não tenham medo. Estava dormindo na mais plena paz há tanto tempo e, de repente, ouço vocês aqui discutindo a minha obra, me acusando de um monte de coisas […] ouvi gente aí dizendo que eu tinha que ter ido até os índios, ouvir por mim mesmo os mitos taurepang. E que, se tivesse feito isso, eu teria escrito outra história.”

É nessa energia que acontece o diálogo entre o dono da casa, os reclamantes e os convidados — infelizmente, para Mário, sem vinho nem charutos.

Makunaimã: o mito através do tempoé um livro revolucionário, que traz à tona vozes e visões do outro lado — o indígena—, que por noventa anos esteve totalmente invisível, sendo reiteradamente desrespeitado em sua existência e em seu sagrado.

SOBRE A AUTORIA

O conceito de autoria adotado para este livro é aquele que, de acordo com Paul Zumthor em A letra e a voz (Companhia das Letras, 1993), predominou na Idade Média, quando as histórias eram narradas por diversos contadores na tradição oral e, eventualmente, num esforço coletivo feito em oficinas de copistas, uma versão dessa história era transcrita e escrita para ingressar o universo literário. Todas as histórias e ideias contidas neste livro foram contadas ao longo do evento “Makunaimã: o mito através do tempo”, ocorrido nas quatro casas da organização social Poiesis — Instituto de Apoio à Cultura, à Língua e à Literatura em agosto de 2018. A dramaturgia foi escrita e, posteriormente, todos puderam ler o texto e fazer sugestões.
