Each of the pieces being offered here are beautiful, unique stones, once part of a living tree. They were alive during the early Triassic Period, over 200 million years ago! As the years passed, the once living material was covered by sediment and yet protected from decay. The tree structure was replaced with various minerals as water flowed through the sediment, and eventually the tree petrified (which means "turned to stone"), with different minerals producing a variety of colors. And now, these fossils, collected in Madagascar, have been sliced and polished on one side, accenting the beauty of each piece. The pieces in this batch are just very small 'babies' and mostly 1-2" and a little less than 1/4 to 1/2" thick. All show some of the wood grain texture with a nice quality polish.
