ProductDescription : Peargirl Knits Patterns. This is a traditional Faroese style shawl, but without the lace pattern that is usually found along the bottom border and in the gusset section. The colors and textures create the beauty and the knitting is simplified without the lace charts. This style is well known and loved because of the unique shaping that allows the shawl to stay put on your shoulders with ease. Create your palette using yarns with different texture and colors that you think will complement each other. I used 4 different yarns in the shawl pictured, two were striping yarns for color movement. A variety of fibres were used for texture, one was mohair and one was alpaca with 5% flash for a little sparkle. Approximately 1200 yards was used, I had a little left over from each yarn, and I used only about 150 yards of the alpaca. All the yarns are considered a DK weight except the alpaca which is a 2-ply sport. Your shawl will end up larger if using heavier yarns, lighter yarns will give you a smaller shawl. Needles – One 47” 5.00 mm (#8 US) circular needle, one 24” 5.00 mm (#8 US) circular needle, and DPN’s in same size ? 4.00 mm (G) Crochet Hook ? Tapestry needle for weaving in ends ? 4 Stitch Markers, one being a unique color to indicate beginning of RS rows Gauge : Gauge is not crucial for this project, but be sure to use a needle a little bigger than the yarn suggests for drape. Finished Size : About 67” (170 cm) wide at top edge of shawl and 30” (76 cm) long from top to bottom of gusset.
