This edge-lit exit sign comes as either a single face (transparent clear panel) or double face (mirrored panel) and includes a recessed backbox housing for installation in drywall or tiled ceiling boards. This energy-saving edge lit sign will remain on at all times when normal AC electricity is flowing, and continue to stay lit for at least 1-1/2 hours after a power failure, complying with UL924 code.

Construction

The edge-lit exit sign has an unfinished cast aluminum backbox housing and junction box which conceal into the ceiling. The backbox has adjustable hanger bars for securing to joists. Other than the 'EXIT' panel, only a polished aluminum trim will be visible.

The bottom exit panel of the recessed edge-lit exit sign is made of a high-polish, injection molded acrylic with slightly rounded edges. A red or green legal sized 'EXIT' stencil is molded into the acrylic, providing even light distribution. Single-sided units will be transparent while double-sided signs have a mirrored mylar sheet within the panel, mimicking the appearance of a see-through panel.

Battery

This edge-lit exit sign model includes a 6-volt Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd) battery pack. It provides emergency backup power to the exit sign for at least 90 minutes, and only requires 48-hours to fully recharge. Ni-Cd is the longest lasting battery type available exit signs, lasting an average of 7 to 10 years.

A push-to-test switch and LED pilot light on the bottom of the housing trim allows you to test the emergency readiness of the fixture. The LED will flash if any fault is detected in the circuit, LED lights or battery.
