Does not come with the too post. The purpose of having a cam mechanism in the quick change toolpost is to provide a convenient and reliable way to lock and unlock toolholders. When a machinist wants to change a tool, they can manipulate the right hand cam to release the current toolholder, insert a new toolholder, and then secure it in place by adjusting the cam again. The tool post body and holders are machined from steel, case hardened and coated with a black oxide finish. This provides a very durable product that should provide generations of service if cared for. Two dovetails are provided on the tool post so holders can be mounted in a choice of positions. The individual holders are locked in place with a cam against a dovetailed slide that is tightened using the same hex key used for many other Sherline operations. PLEASE NOTE: This is a replacement part, righthand cam only. The toolpost body assembly itself is sold separately. It is part # 22512.
