2. Triangular needles are the most common needle type and great for all kind of needle felting projects. They have 3 sides. Red-S- 40 Gauge - detailing, green-M- 38 Gauge - working and shaping, gold-L- 36 Gauge - starting and shaping, black-XS- 42 Gauge - sculpting.
3. Spiral (twisted) felting needles are the same as triangular, but the blade is twisted. The twist needles lock fibers together very quickly; great for finishing off surfaces. The color of the twisted needle is pink and purple.
4. Star felting needles have 4 sides; as a result they have more barbs for quicker felting, and also more suited for work with course fibers; great for joining pieces together and for sculpting. The color of the star needle is gold.
