Our Extra Offset Crank knifes are a new range of palette and painting knives made from stainless steel with black wooden handles. Compared to our old range of Black Handled painting knives, these knives have longer shanks, a more flexible blade, and a larger offset . The offset is the angle between the flat of the blade and the handle. When the bottom of the blade is held flat on a table, the handle of a knife with a large offset will point higher in the air than a knife with a small offset. A reasonable offset is desirable in a painting knife because it stops the artist s knuckles coming into contact with the wet surface of the canvas. The range also includes two palette knives which have long, straight blades which continue the line of the handle (i.e. with no offset at all).

This is a No. 6 knife. It has a wide blade which has a rounded tip.

This palette knife's blade measures 67mm in length, with a width of 22mm at its widest point and a tip of 5mm. The crank's offset measures 32mm, while the shank adds an additional 52mm in length. The handle measures 100mm in length with a diameter of 10mm.
