Editorial Review
"Warmth, sustain, and a clean, singing tone." "5-string bass pickups go vintage with the DiMarzio DP552 Area J Jazz 5-String Bass Neck/Bridge Pickup Set. Like the original Area J, the Area J 5 was designed for warmth, sustain, and a clean, singing tone. The low-pull magnetic field allows the strings to ring clearly and enhances the sound of the low B string. And like all DiMarzio bass pickups, the Area J 5 cancels hum. With medium output and a very balanced tone, the Area J 5 works equally well with passive and active electronics. Recommended For: Neck and bridge positions Tech Talk: The Area J 5 is not a high-output pickup, but it has a lot of headroom in terms of dynamic range. It can also be custom-tuned with different control values. 250K controls produce a very round, classic J sound, while 500K controls introduce more attack and treble response."
