ProductDescription : Overview: Tungsten Cylinders are one of the easiest ways to add weight to your Derby Car. With tungsten being 1.7 times denser than lead and over 2 times denser than zinc the Derby Worx Incremental Tungsten Cylinder kit makes adding plenty of weight to your derby car as simple as drilling a hole. Each 2 oz. Tungsten Cylinder Kit contains 8 pieces of precision sized 3/8″ dia, high density, tungsten: 2 pieces: 1/2 oz, 2 pieces: 1/4 oz. 4 pieces: 1/8 oz. will give the car builder a dense compact weight solution with adjust-ability for precise weight and balance. Weights are easily installed by drilling a 25/64″ hole in the body in the desired weighting location. Due to its very high density Tungsten is an excellent weighting material for derby cars. Only gold, platinum, and a few other rare and expensive metals have a similar density. Tungsten is approximately 1.7 times denser than lead and 3.2 times denser than the zinc (“lead-free”) weight often used on derby cars, thus it allows a tremendous amount of freedom in the car design especially for speed by allowing the builder to place a large amount of weight in a small, aerodynamic area. Also tungsten is completely non-toxic and environmentally friendly. Derby Worx tungsten products are made using a process called “Sintering”, this is the process of compacting and forming a solid mass of material by heat and pressure without melting it to the point of liquefaction.
