ProductDescription : Horizontal Poultry Drinker Nipples for watering your birds: Easier to install then the other horizontal drinker nipple, proven to be better at reducing water dripping and with this design even less drips with the larger and deeper cup shape. Trough drinkers always get poop in them, litter kicked up and into them or just the airborne dust that lands in them and the bacteria count sky rockets. Increase your flock’s health and provide safe, clean drinking water. This horizontal drinking nipple has an o-ring held in place by a tensioned spring. Unlike vertical nipples there is no water inside the drinker at any time. spring-loaded, don't drip and leak like vertical nipples tend to do, this eliminates leaking and keeps excess water off the floor Our horizontal nipples have a unique tapered thread design that offers many options. They will screw into a 1/8" pipe thread. they will push in 1/2" tubing. you can drill a 11/32" hole in PVC pipe or a pail or container of choice and screw them in. no additional tools needed You can get free 2 to 5 gallon pails at your local grocery store in the bakery department, drill a 11/32" hole 2 inches up from the bottom of the pail, screw the threaded chicken nipples directly into the hole and you're done! no plumbers tape or caulking necessary. The pail/ bucket can be sitting directly on the ground but its best to be hung or placed on cinder blocks 6 - 8" off the ground so the poultry don't have to twist their neck to drink. It is surprising how quickly the poultry are able to figure out how the nipples work., first REMOVE ALL water source, then fill the pail with water, tap nipples until water fill the reservoir, let the chickens see the water come out of the nipple the moment one chicken drinks others will follow, this process takes a few minutes or several hours, sometimes it helps if you place a piece of cranberry or a raisin in the reservoir to train the chickens.
