ProductDescription : These hanging feed and water cups are contoured for complete consumption of feed or water. These have a lot of taper on the sides and are made of a thicker, more flexible plastic, and consequently are not prone to freeze and bust. For ice removal, it is best to only fill 1/2 to 2/3 full in the winter. This is an excellent product. The manufacturer is a fellow farmer who spent 20+ years working in the plastic molding industry and recognized the need for a better water/feed cup that wasn't breaking every winter. I have used hanging water cups for many years on my farm. The advantages I see to the hanging water cups are they stay cleaner because my chickens aren't as prone to kick dirt in them and earthworms don't crawl into them and die.
