ProductDescription : Culligan Better Water Pure and Simple Drinking Water Replacement Filter For Under Sink 250 gal. Sediment filtration is used to remove particulate material like sand, silt and grit. Carbon filters remove bad tastes and odors from the water and are the primary media for refrigerator filters. Carbon filters are also effective at removing a number of deleterious chemicals and contaminants. These include: chlorine, benzene, radon, solvents trihalomethane compounds, volatile organic chemicals such as pesticides and herbicides and hundreds of other man-made chemicals that may come into contact with tap water as it proceeds through the water delivery system. Lead and other heavy metals are removed only by a specific type of activated carbon filter. Activated carbon filtration does not remove microbes, sodium, nitrates, fluoride, and hardness. Other methods like UV and reverse osmosis may be required to remove these.
