5 inch 8 hole hook and loop foam interface pads make your existing sander more adaptable and can help preserve the hook and loop backer pad. This set comes with 2 soft black pads, 1 hard green pad and 1 yellow medium pad. 

The different hardness pads like soft, medium, and hard, achieving a better sanding solution. For levelling smooth surfaces, a hard pad is going to stay flat and help knock down the high spots. Soft pads work well breaking sharp edges or on surfaces with more texture or shape where you want the sandpaper to curve around and smooth without levelling flat to the bottom of the sander. Medium is a compromise between the two. 

This set lets you quickly switch between hard and soft pads quickly and easily without having to unbolt the backer pad to change, or to have multiple sanders, saving costs greatly.
