BulletPoint1 : Barcelona is a leather which we recently developed as a take off of Seal Print. Seal leather , produced from the skins of seals was popular over 100 years ago. In the late 19th, early 20th century, a print, made on goatskin, readily available, was developed and sold commercially as a copy to sealskin. It was very popularly used, in many cases for bibles.
BulletPoint2 : In our reference samples, we have a sample of this leather, never used, properly stored. As our customers are always looking for new leathers, based upon historical “norms”, we decided to bring this leather back to availability.
BulletPoint3 : Starting with vegetable tanned goat (we test to be sure NO metal contaminants), we have produced a leather designed for bookbinding, with the same seal print.
BulletPoint4 : The grain of the leather is not flat. It is optically 3 dimensional. To enhance it’s appearance, we hand dye (means by human who hand dyes, NOT a human hand pressing a button on a machine) the tips of the grain, leaving the valleys the original drum dyed color. This produces a very interesting and attractive leather
BulletPoint5 : As a note, the leather is vegetable tanned, it can be made brighter in appearance with hand polishing if desired. It will definitely develop a nice patina with ageing and use.
BulletPoint6 : The temper of this leather and its substance is very similar to our River Grain Goat which, universally, everyone finds it very easy with which to work, for its covering properties, eaily pared and already to a useable substance .65-.75 mm.
