ProductDescription : Screw Pin Bow Shackle is precision cast and made in durable Type 316 stainless steel. The screw pin shackle has a larger, more defined bow area than an anchor shackle, and the rounded design of bow shackles allow them to take a load from many directions without developing significant side load. The screw pin is popular because it is easy to connect and disconnect and can be removed from the body of the shackle. These stainless steel shackles are made for durability as it contains Type 316, the most common type of stainless steel used in nautical applications, damp environments, or high chloride marine applications. The Type 316 grade contains molybdenum, which is made to prevent corrosive effects of salt water. It's important to know that the larger loop shape of a bow shackle does reduce its overall strength, but it is also able to handle a larger strap. Always ensure the pin is straight and properly engaged, meaning the threads fully engaged on the shackle. If the load shifts, the sling will unscrew the shackle pin. The WLL is embossed on each shackle. Be sure to check the WLL of the shackle to ensure it will work for your intended use. Shackles should be inspected before each use. If you see bending on the body or pin, remove the shackle from use and dispose of it. As with all equipment with stated load limits, these strength limits are based on proper use. Improper use will decrease strength and may cause the shackle to fail.
