ProductDescription : Baum Tools 3366 VW and Audi Chain Adjuster Bracket is used during Chain Adjuster replacement, and whenever the camshaft timing chain needs to be removed and installed. This tool is designed like the factory 3366 with a metal bolt and plastic. Plastic has been a design feature for 3366 tools to keep the tool from damaging the chain tensioner if the tool is used incorrectly. Here is some information that should be a help to anyone trying to use our 3366. Since the chain tensioner on the engine is hydraulic, the hydraulic fluid has to bleed out of the cylinder for the tensioner to compress. How quick the fluid bleeds out of the tensioner depends on the condition of the chain tensioner and the engine oil in it. It is common for the tensioner to feel stiff; you have to take your time to slowly compressing the tensioner as to allow time for the oil to bleed out. If the tensioner will not compress or it is taking too much force to compress (3366's plastic is flexing), that usually is an indicator that your chain tensioner is either defective or the engine oil in it is slugged. To sum things up, turn the bolt on the 3366 slowly (NO POWER TOOLS) feeling for resistance from the hydraulics in the tensioner, stop for a couple of seconds to let some oil bleed out of the tensioner, and repeat until the tensioner is compressed enough to allow it to slip out of the chain. STOP trying to compress the tensioner if it doesn't want to compress or the 3366 starts to flex, that most likely means you have a problem with your chain tensioner (if you continue, you might break your tensioner or the 3366). We have many technicians that have been using this tool for years without the tool breaking; the key is to understand how a hydraulic tensioner works and to use the tool correctly. El Paso Tools ships items promptly and with the fastest method possible. Our policy is to ship orders that total $100.00 and more with signature required.
